No Need to Resign: Here is How to Withdraw BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Funds Online
The Old Age Security (JHT) funds managed by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan do not always require participants to wait until retirement age to be withdrawn. Under certain conditions, participants who are still actively working can withdraw a portion of their JHT balance.
This provision is stipulated in Article 22 of Government Regulation (PP) Number 46 of 2015, which was subsequently updated through PP Number 60 of 2015. Although JHT is fundamentally prepared as financial protection for old age, eligible participants may perform partial withdrawals. The withdrawable amounts are divided into two options: 10 per cent and 30 per cent.
A 30 per cent withdrawal is intended for participants who require funds for home ownership, whether through cash purchases or mortgage (KPR) schemes. Meanwhile, a 10 per cent withdrawal can be used for other purposes in preparation for retirement.
However, partial JHT withdrawals are not available to all participants. One of the primary requirements is that the participant must have been registered with BPJS Ketenlagakerjaan for at least 10 years.
Requirements for Partial JHT Claims
For both 10 per cent and 30 per cent partial claims, participants must prepare documents according to the type of withdrawal requested. Participants must also be mindful of tax regulations. Partial JHT withdrawals may affect progressive tax rates on subsequent withdrawals if the balance is withdrawn again after a gap of more than two years.
For the 30 per cent withdrawal, the required documents will depend on the purpose of the funds, namely the cash purchase of a house or through credit/mortgage facilities.
Full JHT Withdrawal Under Certain Conditions
In addition to partial withdrawals, the JHT balance can be withdrawn in full if the participant meets the applicable provisions. Some conditions that allow for full withdrawal include:
The participant has reached retirement age, which is 56 years or as stipulated in the company’s Collective Labour Agreement (PKB).
The termination of a Fixed-Term Employment Agreement (PKWT).
Non-Wage Earners (BPU) ceasing their business operations.
The participant resigns or undergoes Termination of Employment (PHK).
The participant leaves Indonesia permanently.
The participant suffers a total disability.
JHT claims can now be submitted online, meaning participants do not always have to visit and queue at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan branch offices. There are two digital channels available: the Lapak Asik portal and the JMO (Jamsostek Mobile) application.
1. Via Lapak Asik
The Lapak Asik service can be used by participants entering retirement, those who have resigned, or those affected by layoffs. Participants need to access the Lapak Asik portal and fill in the requested data, such as NIK (National Identity Number), full name, and membership number.
Next, participants must upload the required documents and a recent selfie in JPG, JPEG, PNG, or PDF format. The maximum file size for uploads is 6 MB. Once the data is saved, participants will receive information regarding the online interview schedule via email. In the next stage, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan officers will verify the data through a video call. Once the verification process is complete, the JHT balance will be transferred to the participant’s account.
2. Via the JMO Application
Participants can also submit claims through the JMO application. To do this, open the JMO app and log in using a registered account. Then, select the Old Age Security (JHT) menu and proceed by selecting JHT Claim. The system will indicate whether the participant meets the claim criteria, marked by a green checkmark.
Afterwards, select the reason for withdrawal, confirm personal data, and follow the selfie verification process. Participants will then be asked to enter their NPWP (Taxpayer Identification Number) and an active bank account number before pressing the confirmation button. The status of the application can be monitored directly through the Claim Tracking feature in the JMO app. The withdrawal process generally takes approximately one to three working days after all requirements and verification are declared complete.
