No Need to Exchange Money: BCA Customers Can Now Pay in China Using QRIS
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) supports the implementation of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) across borders in China through the myBCA app and BCA mobile.
This support enables Indonesians to transact in China using QRIS, while all tourists from China can use QR at merchants with BCA QRIS in Indonesia.
BCA President Director Hendra Lembong stated that this reinforces BCA’s commitment to providing a secure, easy, and efficient digital payment ecosystem for users when transacting abroad or receiving payments from foreign tourists.
Through this scheme, people can conduct cross-border transactions practically without needing to exchange cash.
This step also minimises the risks of exchange rate volatility and encourages more efficient flows of trade and investment between countries.
BCA continues to support various payment system innovations from Bank Indonesia, including the development of QRIS Cross Border in various countries.
Currently, Hendra said, the QRIS Cross Border service can be used by Indonesians to transact in six countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and China.
Tourists from these six countries can also use the QR payment system in Indonesia by scanning the QR code from BCA’s EDC machines.
For the record, up to the first quarter of 2026, the total frequency of cross-border QRIS transactions processed by BCA’s system increased 355 per cent year-on-year compared to the same period the previous year.
“Through support for the implementation of QRIS Cross Border, BCA is committed to continuing to provide relevant digital payment solutions for customer needs and supporting the strengthening of the cross-border digital transaction ecosystem,” Hendra concluded.
BCA customers can utilise the QRIS Cross Border service through the myBCA app or BCA mobile with the following steps.
