No More Wild Boar Hunting Activity in Jasinga After Dog Attack on Child

A nine-year-old boy died after being bitten by wild boar hunting dogs while fishing in Jasinga District, Bogor, West Java. Hunting activity has reportedly not been seen since the incident.

“There is no more, thank God there is no more [hunting activity],” said Jasinga Police Chief AKP Agus Hidayat on Thursday (18/6/2026).

He has also urged the public to immediately report any hunting activity to the police so that law enforcement can take action. Police have also met with local community leaders, as the hunting activities were often conducted without residents’ confirmation.

“Now the community understands; if there is a group like that, they will definitely report it directly to the police station. Perhaps they ask for our help to warn the hunters,” he explained.

Regarding regulations on hunting locations, he said the relevant authorities are beginning to draft them. According to him, the regional government is currently preparing these rules.

Previously, the nine-year-old boy died after being attacked by boar hunting dogs while fishing in Jasinga, Bogor, on Sunday afternoon (7/6). During the investigation, the Bogor Police detained 57 witnesses and boar hunters for questioning. Based on the evidence, the owner of the dogs that attacked and fatally bit the victim was named a suspect.

On Wednesday (10/6/2026), Head of the PPA/PPO Unit at Bogor Police, AKP Silfi Adi Putri, stated that the four hunting dogs that attacked the boy in Jasinga District, Bogor, West Java, were reported to have died simultaneously inside a car. It is suspected that the four dogs died due to a lack of oxygen.

“The information is that they were kept inside the car, tied up, and the car was closed, so there was no oxygen inside. Yes, four dogs died,” said Silfi.

The dogs were placed in the car after attacking the victim. It is suspected that the dogs died together because they ran out of oxygen inside the vehicle. “Regarding the condition of the dogs, when the dogs mauled the victim, they were secured and then put into the car. While the dogs were inside the car, the car was likely not turned on, causing the death of the dogs,” Silfi said.
