No more rhetoric from Mega-Hamzah
No more rhetoric from Mega-Hamzah
From Rakyat Merdeka
Sooner or later the Mega-Hamzah Cabinet will be announced, and
initially, positive support should be given to whoever is chosen
and appointed as a new minister.
A similar, initially positive response has been given by the
market, as can be seen in the strengthening of rupiah against the
U.S. dollar; a good start for the duo to be proud of.
As long as the political parties' compromises in the forming
of the upcoming "rainbow" cabinet are based on virtuous
intentions for the nation and the people's welfare (and not
merely some kind of power sharing), then it is more than likely
that the positive image of the newly formed government can be
maintained.
Another crucial aspect to be immediately attended to is the
upholding of justice, more popularly termed "supremacy of the
law". A firm, no-compromise attitude of the President is
expected, so that all criminals, major or minor, whether or not
in the legislature, judiciary or executive body are brought to
court, where there are no longer any "meddling or obstructing
hands".
Let's hope that the fall of the recent government was not a
sort of a "political engineering and self-justification" of the
majority in the People's Consultative Assembly; let's view it as
a constitutional resolution.
It would be regrettable if it were later found out that purely
for temporary gain there had been some kind of conspiracy.
Let's hope the next cabinet is not only a colorful rainbow, a
temporarily beautiful sight, consisting of various political
elements, but is really a "strongly bound and united broom" for
immediate and effective "sweeping" action.
Therefore starting today, no more rhetoric.
