No more job for education ministry?

From Warta Kota

This newspaper in its June 11 edition reported head of secondary and tertiary education service of Jakarta as saying that government schools were free to collect money when receiving new students.

In this context, several points should be considered: * Entrance tests for government schools are no longer necessary because the places are given only to those who can afford them. * Some tests are still necessary to choose academically superior students, but the tests can be taken only by those already paying school fees. * There will be no schooling for students who are bright but poor. * There should no longer be any classification of government and private schools. Everything will be left to the educational institutions concerned and the financial capacity of the students and their parents. * As a consequence, the national education ministry must be disbanded as it no longer has anything to do.
