No More BI Checking: How to Check Your Credit History Online
Access to financing can be obtained if you have a good credit track record. This is a reference for finance companies or banks when providing credit to their customers. With technological advancements, Indonesian citizens can now independently check their own loan status, payment history, and creditworthiness online. However, it is important to note that this check is no longer conducted through the BI Checking service owned by Bank Indonesia. It has been replaced by a new system called SLIK, or the Financial Information Service System, which has been fully managed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) since 2018. This checking access is freely available to all citizens through the official portal named iDebku, at the website https://idebku.ojk.go.id. The platform is directly connected to the OJK head office and all its regional offices, ensuring the data presented is accurate, centralised, and legally valid. Through this service, Indonesian citizens can view all debt records registered under their name, whether from commercial banks, finance companies, or fintech lending services.
What Information is Available in SLIK?
The report received contains detailed information on all credit facilities ever or currently owned, including: Working Capital Loans, Vehicle Loans, Home Ownership Loans (KPR) or Apartment Loans, Investment Loans, Unsecured Loans (KTA), Credit Cards, and Secured Loans (gold, deposits, or other assets). It also includes payment history and current status (smooth, less smooth, doubtful, or bad). This information is crucial as it serves as the main reference for banks or financial institutions when applying for new loans, credit cards, or even processing insurance and business capital.
Here are the step-by-step instructions for registering and checking, complete with explanations to make it easier to follow:
Stage 1: Account Registration & Application Submission
Open a browser on your mobile phone or computer, then go to the official address at https://idebku.ojk.go.id.
On the main page, select the ‘Pendaftaran’ (Registration) button.
Enter the ‘Cek Ketersediaan Layanan’ (Check Service Availability) menu.
Fill in the initial data: Type of Debtor (Individual or Business Entity), Citizenship (WNI or WNA), Type of Identity (KTP or Passport), and Identity Number as per your document.
Enter the Captcha code, then click ‘Selanjutnya’ (Next). If a notification appears stating the queue quota is full, it means the daily applicant limit has been reached. Try again during off-peak hours, such as early morning before office hours or at night. The system opens a new quota every day.
Continue filling in your complete personal data: full name as per identity document, gender, place and date of birth, complete address, province, city/regency, active email address, and a reachable mobile phone number.
Select the purpose of the information request (e.g., personal use, credit application, or data verification) and enter your biological mother’s name.
Click ‘Selanjutnya’ to proceed to the document upload stage.
Upload photos of the required documents, ensuring each file size is a maximum of 4 MB and the images are clear, not blurry: a photo of your identity document (KTP/Passport), a selfie photo holding the identity document, and a selfie photo following the on-screen guide. Ensure all text on the document is clearly legible, as blurry images will result in rejection.
Once all documents are uploaded, click ‘Selanjutnya’.
Click ‘Ajukan Permohonan’ (Submit Application). Make sure the email address you entered is correct, as the SLIK report results will be sent directly to that email.
You can still modify data if incorrect by pressing the ‘Kembali’ (Back) button. If everything is correct, tick the statement confirming the truthfulness of the data and your agreement to OJK’s terms and conditions.
Finally, click ‘Ajukan Permohonan’.
After successful submission, a ‘Pendaftaran Berhasil’ (Registration Successful) notification will appear. Do not forget to copy or note down the registration number provided, as this code is needed to check the status of your application process.
Stage 2: How to Check Application Status
Return to the main page of the idebku.ojk.go.id site.
Press the ‘Status Layanan’ (Service Status) button.
Enter the registration number you saved.
The system will display the processing stages of your application. According to OJK regulations, the report results are sent to your email no later than one working day after the registration is received and verified.
