For Indonesia today, batteries are no longer viewed merely as supporting components but as a crucial foundation for the nation’s energy future. Supported by nickel reserves of around 1.6 million tonnes, along with rising investments in the electric vehicle sector and battery energy storage systems (BESS), Indonesia is emerging as a significant player in the global lithium-ion battery supply chain.

Additionally, Indonesia’s battery market in 2024 is valued at approximately US$1.45 billion and is projected to continue growing until 2030 with an annual growth rate of 23.7 per cent. The BESS market is estimated to increase from US$4.36 billion to US$15.82 billion by 2032. To support this energy transition, the government will focus on accelerating programmes through a target of 100 gigawatts of solar power plant development to hasten energy independence and the use of clean energy.

This momentum underpins the return of The Battery Show Asia – Indonesia 2026, which will take place from 2-5 September 2026 at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, as part of the larger Indonesia Energy & Engineering (IEE) Series 2026. Entering its second edition, the exhibition serves as a meeting space for the entire battery industry chain – from battery cell manufacturers, battery pack assemblers, battery management systems (BMS), energy storage systems, battery recycling, to the integration and expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure and renewable energy solutions.

According to Deputy Event Director of Pamerindo Indonesia, Hanung Hanindito, the current development of the battery industry shows that the boundaries between the energy, manufacturing, and technology sectors are becoming increasingly blurred. “Today, we are no longer talking about batteries merely as products, but as part of the national industrial strategy. From electric vehicles and renewable energy to data storage systems for industrial needs, everything requires a connected ecosystem. Through The Battery Show Asia – Indonesia, we aim to provide a space that brings together the entire value chain so that collaboration, investment, and innovation can grow more rapidly. At the same time, it strengthens Indonesia’s position in the global supply chain,” he stated in an official release.

For players in the electric vehicle and battery industry, this momentum is not just about business opportunities but also a chance to enter an rapidly growing market early. As the global supply chain shifts towards Southeast Asia, the decision to participate could be a crucial step in shaping future business. Indonesia is no longer just a promising EV market but is building itself as a production and innovation hub for batteries in the region.

PT Kaltimex Energy Indonesia, which has participated in this exhibition series since 2003, views The Battery Show Asia – Indonesia as the right space to expand connections while gauging the direction of future industry developments. PT Sekisui Polymatech, a multinational company with its latest thermal interface material products, also expressed enthusiasm for the exhibition’s 2026 edition.

The presence of key players in the battery and electrical industry, such as BryAir, Shandong Gelon Lib Co., Ltd., Enertex Global Energy Private Limited, Ksterminals Technology Indonesia, and Trafoindo Prima Perkasa, indicates that the need for battery solutions is now broader, not only for the automotive sector but also for industrial operational efficiency, smart grids, and renewable energy integration.
