No gift parcels for police officers

JAKARTA: Responding to a request from the Corruption Eradication Commission, National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar ordered on Friday all officers to refrain from sending or receiving gift parcels.

The police chief said officers could exchange gifts only with relatives.

"It is not necessary for officers in the provinces to give parcels to me. And they should not receive parcels from people, except from relatives," Da'i said.

However, he did not say what kind of punishment officers could expect for violating the order. -- JP
