No Fuel Price Increase, Palace Asks Public Not to Panic
JAKARTA - The State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi has emphasised that there will be no adjustment or increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM). The Palace has also asked the public not to panic. “We hope the public does not need to panic or worry because we guarantee the availability of BBM. We guarantee it. And there will be no price adjustment,” Prasetyo said in his statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026). Prasetyo stressed that Pertamina will not adjust fuel prices. This also counters the rumours circulating that subsidised fuel prices would rise from 1 April 2026. With this statement, it is hoped that the public can obtain clearer and more accurate information. According to Prasetyo, the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Pertamina has coordinated in accordance with instructions from President Prabowo Subianto. “The President always prioritises the interests of the people and society in making decisions,” he said. Previously, a document circulated on social media containing projections of increases in non-subsidised fuel prices. Several fuels that would rise include Pertamax, Pertamax Green 95, Pertamax Turbo, Dex (Pertamina Dex), and Dexlite. Meanwhile, PT Pertamina (Persero) has stated that the information regarding projections of fuel price increases circulating on social media is untrue and cannot be held accountable. According to Pertamina’s Vice President for Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, there is currently no official decision regarding fuel price adjustments as of 1 April 2026. “The information on projections of fuel price increases that is circulating cannot be held accountable, and to date, there has been no official announcement regarding prices as of 1 April 2026,” he said when confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday (30/3/2026).
