Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Chairman of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Bambang Patijaya, has welcomed and appreciated the statement by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, affirming that there will be no increase in the prices of subsidised or non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM). The statement was delivered by Bahlil during a press conference on the Government’s Policy in Mitigating Risks and Anticipating Global Dynamics, held virtually from South Korea on Tuesday (31/3/2026). “Commission VII of the DPR RI gives high appreciation for the government’s firm commitment. Amid the intensifying global geopolitical turmoil, with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, world crude oil prices continue to face upward pressure. Coupled with global geo-economic uncertainties, energy inflation, and supply chain disruptions, many countries are forced to raise fuel prices in the near term. However, Indonesia has chosen a different path,” Bambang Patijaya stated in a written remark on Wednesday (1/4/2026). He said that the decision to keep fuel prices stable is concrete proof that the government is working hard and fully siding with the people, given the immense external pressures. “But the government does not want to burden small people, fishermen, farmers, small traders, and public transportation with price increases. This is a real struggle: safeguarding people’s purchasing power, keeping domestic inflation under control, and ensuring the people’s economic wheels keep turning,” he explained. Furthermore, Bambang Patijaya added that Commission VII of the DPR RI will continue to monitor this policy to ensure fuel subsidies are on target, transparent, and not misused. “The government has demonstrated that amid the storm of geopolitics and geo-economics, energy sovereignty and public welfare remain the top priorities. We in the DPR RI fully support this step,” he emphasised.
