Jakarta – The Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Putri Zulkifli Hasan, has appreciated the government’s decision to ensure no increase in fuel oil (BBM) prices as of 1 April 2026.

According to her, this policy is crucial to maintain Indonesia’s current economic stability.

“This policy is important to safeguard people’s purchasing power and economic stability,” said Putri in her statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

Putri emphasised that this momentum must be utilised to strengthen long-term energy agendas as affirmed in PAN’s II National Conference 2026, particularly through campaigns for energy saving and wise usage.

“PAN encourages a movement for energy saving and wise use among all cadres as a concrete step to maintain national energy resilience,” she stated.

She added that energy price stability needs to be accompanied by accelerating the energy transition towards more sustainable sources, while supporting the government of President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of energy self-sufficiency.

“The PAN Faction is ready to oversee energy policies that not only maintain current stability but also strengthen national energy independence in the future,” she asserted.

The PAN Faction also urges PT Pertamina (Persero) to ensure that BBM distribution remains smooth and on target.

In addition, Putri, who is also Deputy Chairman of Commission XII, emphasised the importance of field oversight of BBM distribution and firm action against deviant practices, including misappropriation and hoarding.

“We demand that distribution oversight be tightened and there should be no room for misappropriation or BBM hoarding practices. This must be firmly addressed so as not to harm the public,” she stressed.

Furthermore, Putri also encouraged the active role of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body or BPH Migas to ensure that energy distribution governance runs transparently, accountably, and on target.

Previously reported, the State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg), Prasetyo Hadi, spoke out regarding the issue of plans to adjust or increase fuel oil (BBM) prices.

Prasetyo said that the government has coordinated with Pertamina regarding this issue. President RI Prabowo Subianto has also provided directions for policies to prioritise the people’s interests.

“So, we need to convey that after we conducted coordination in this regard between the government and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources together with Pertamina and based on instructions from Mr President,” said Prasetyo to reporters on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
