Perum Lembaga Penyelenggara Pelayanan Navigasi Penerbangan Indonesia (LPPNPI), or AirNav Indonesia, has confirmed that all flight navigation services continue to operate optimally following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday (15/8).

AirNav Indonesia President Director Capt Avirianto Suratno stated that based on reports from affected facilities, operational services under the coordination of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation remain under control. The company is also committed to supporting the smooth evacuation process and distribution of aid via air routes.

According to the latest reports, the earthquake’s impact on AirNav facilities has been identified at several locations. ‘The identified damage includes cracks and damage to several parts of the tower buildings,’ Avirianto explained in an official statement received in Tangerang on Monday (17/8/2026).

Despite physical damage at some units, AirNav has confirmed that facilities in other areas such as Kupang, Waingapu, Tambolaka, and Denpasar are in safe condition. Additionally, all AirNav personnel in the affected areas have been reported safe.

AirNav Indonesia management is currently prioritising safety by implementing a contingency plan. Preparedness measures are being carried out through assessment of facility conditions and service arrangements from locations deemed safe.

‘Inspections of building conditions, communication facilities, and flight navigation equipment are still being carried out in stages, taking into account the ongoing aftershocks in several areas,’ Avirianto added.

This navigation support is crucial for maintaining air connectivity, especially for mobilising personnel and humanitarian aid to Flores Island, including Nagekeo, Sikka, Manggarai, West Manggarai, and Ende regencies, which were severely affected according to reports from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

AirNav Indonesia continues to coordinate with relevant stakeholders to monitor developments in the field regularly to ensure operational readiness is maintained throughout the emergency response and recovery period.
