No Crescent Moon Sighting in Bali, Ministry of Religious Affairs: To Respect Hindus Celebrating Nyepi

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Director General of Islamic Guidance Abu Rokhman stated that no crescent moon sighting is being conducted in Bali province for determining the date of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

“This is to respect the Hindu community who are celebrating the Nyepi holiday,” said Rokhman when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

This year’s crescent moon sightings are placed at 117 locations throughout Indonesia, excluding Bali.
