No compromise with separatists

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya (JP): The Indonesian Military (TNI) will
never compromise with secessionists, Trikora Military Commander
Maj. Gen. Mahidin Simbolon said here on Wednesday.

"TNI is committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and
integrity of Indonesia," said Simbolon, who oversees security in
Irian Jaya.

Simbolon said that Irian Jaya was relatively peaceful, but
admitted that occasionally separatist groups attacked military
and police posts.

He ordered soldiers posted in outlying areas to stay alert at
all times in anticipation of more attacks. (35)
