No change in Asian Cup venue

KUWAIT (AP): Israeli bombing of power stations will not affect
the Asian Cup finals, which will be staged in Lebanon in October
by "candlelight" if necessary, the president of the Olympic
Council of Asia said in remarks published Wednesday.

The official, Sheik Ahmed Al Fahed Al Sabah -- who also is the
president of the Kuwaiti Football Association -- told Al-Rai Al-
Amm daily that Lebanon would be able to rebuild the power
stations damaged by the Israeli bombing in time for the Oct. 12
to Oct. 29 championship.

But whatever happens, the Olympic Council of Asia "insists on
holding these finals in the heart of the Lebanese capital,
Beirut, even if they have to be played in candlelight", he was
quoted as saying.
