Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the Car Free Day (CFD) on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta, will be cancelled this Sunday. The policy was enacted because the entire peak series of Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary and the Bhayangkara Day commemoration are centred on the Sudirman-Thamrin area.

“For the 28th, besides the Jakarta anniversary event, there is also Bhayangkara Day. Consequently, there will be traffic management for Sudirman-Thamrin. And because all activities are centred on Sudirman-Thamrin, the Car Free Day in Kuningan or Rasuna Said on the 28th is cancelled so that everything is concentrated on Jalan Sudirman, Thamrin, and the surrounding areas,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (26/6/2026).

Pramono stated that traffic engineering will also be implemented to support the peak of the Jakarta anniversary celebrations. On Saturday (27/6), traffic management will be in effect from 14.00 to 23.00 WIB on several road sections around the Hotel Indonesia roundabout.

The affected road sections include the Hotel Indonesia roundabout to Dukuh Atas, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jalan Sutan Syahrir, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Kotabumi, Jalan Teluk Betung, and Jalan Sumenep.

According to Pramono, the traffic management is necessary because the series of events at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout will begin in the afternoon, requiring road closures and traffic flow regulation. Additionally, the Jakarta provincial government is making all public transport services free with a Rp 1 fare on 27-28 June for all Indonesian ID card holders.

“With this traffic management, because that day is also the day we have decided to make all transport free for one rupiah for anyone holding an Indonesian ID card, not just Jakarta,” he stated.

Pramono noted that public enthusiasm for attending the peak of the Jakarta anniversary is quite high. He said residents from buffer zones and even out of town are expected to come to participate in the various activities held in the Sudirman-Thamrin area.

“The interest in attending is also quite high. I have received reports that people from around Jakarta, whether from Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang, South Tangerang, and even some from out of town, want to attend the Jakarta anniversary event,” he added.
