Jakarta (ANTARA) - It has been confirmed that there were no casualties in the fire that occurred at the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1) Kalibaru, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Monday afternoon.

“There were no casualties in the fire incident,” said NPCT1 Corporate Planning Manager, Christine Margaretha Manasseh, in Jakarta on Monday.

At present, officers are still conducting the cooling phase at the site of the fire, a process expected to take approximately one hour.

“The fire handling has now entered the cooling stage, being carried out by NPCT1 in coordination with relevant parties,” she said.

She explained that NPCT1 is gradually beginning to restore terminal operational activities with great caution due to the ongoing control measures in the affected area.

“The recovery is being conducted slowly and in a measurable manner, while prioritising safety and security, and ensuring that the conditions of the operational area meet the necessary requirements,” said Christine.

The company expressed its deepest apologies to all parties affected by this incident. “We understand the concerns, inconveniences, or disruptions that may arise as a result of this event,” she added.

“We are also continuing the investigation and evaluation process to ensure that the necessary follow-up steps can be taken appropriately and responsibly,” she said.

According to data from the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) Command Centre, the fire report was received at 15:44 WIB. The fire location was at NPCT1, Jalan Terminal Kalibaru Raya Kaviling B No 1, Kalibaru, Cilincing, North Jakarta.

Officers initially deployed one 4,000-litre pump unit from the Kalibaru Post as an initial response. Personnel arrived at the location at 15:53 WIB and immediately commenced firefighting efforts.

Officers deployed 14 fire engines and 70 personnel to extinguish the flames, which were burning a tank container, suspected to have been caused by extreme heat.
