The state vessel KN SAR Ramawijaya 240, operated by the Mentawai Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas), caught fire at the Nizam Zachman Port in Muara Baru, North Jakarta. The Head of the Jakarta Search and Rescue Office, Desiana Kartika Bahari, confirmed there were no casualties in the incident. “There were no victims in the fire, neither from the crew members who were supervising nor from the docking company’s employees,” Desiana said, as reported by Antara on Wednesday (22/7/2026). She explained that the 40-metre SAR ship was undergoing its annual docking at the PT Proskuneo Kadarusman shipyard. The fire was reported at 6:40 PM Western Indonesian Time. To tackle the blaze, 20 fire engines from the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service were deployed to the scene. The firefighting effort was also supported by rescue personnel from the Jakarta SAR Office’s Kepulauan Seribu post. Desiana added that thanks to the intensive efforts of the joint team, the flames were brought under control. The cause of the fire remains unknown and has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
