No cannon this Christmas

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: City police have banned the use of
bamboo cannons, along with firecrackers and liquor, during the
upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities, Antara reported.

Lt. Col. Jecky Manihin, the chief of Jayapura precinct, said
that the sound of the cannons being fired in the hills, which
began at the start of the month, has been disrupting people's
activities. (31)
