No Budget Yet for Tendean Footbridge Reconstruction, Jakarta Governor Eyes CSR and KLB Funds

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, will be rebuilt, but the budget for its reconstruction is currently unavailable. Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government is seeking various funding sources to expedite the project. “If the Bina Marga agency says it cannot be built yet because the budget is certainly not available, then I will look for room through the Revised Regional Budget (APBD-P), CSR funds, or KLB funds, or we will invite a strategic partner to build it,” Pramono said at City Hall on Tuesday (15/7/2026).

He emphasised that the construction of the pedestrian bridge must not be delayed because the location is in a high-traffic area and serves as a vital crossing point for the public. “Because the location is very congested and strategic, a JPO must be built immediately to resolve the issue on the ground. That is the most important thing,” he asserted.

Pramono also addressed suggestions that the Jakarta Provincial Government should sue the responsible party for compensation. He deferred the legal process to the relevant agencies and law enforcement officials. “Let the relevant agency and law enforcement officers process whether a lawsuit will be filed or not,” he said.

He reiterated that preliminary monitoring indicated the accident was caused by the negligence of the truck driver, who was carrying a load exceeding the permitted height limit, causing it to collide with the bridge. The JPO on Jalan Kapten Tendean suffered severe damage after being struck by a crane truck on the morning of Monday, 14 July. Traffic flow around the location was temporarily diverted before returning to normal by the evening.
