No Aspirations, Rano Says City Hall Open House is Just Halal Bihalal
Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno stated that the open house activity at City Hall in Central Jakarta on Saturday (21/03/2026) was not an opportunity for residents to voice their aspirations.
According to him, the event was purely held as a moment for fostering ties between the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) and the community.
“No, for this moment, there are no aspirations. This is just halal bihalal, just for silaturahmi,” Rano said at City Hall in Central Jakarta on Saturday.
Residents’ complaint services remain open routinely on the City Hall terrace.
“Because if it’s about aspirations, actually every day from Monday to Thursday, we open here, on the terrace. If there’s something to report, please do so,” Rano said.
Although Rano assured that no residents complained during the proceedings, several residents admitted to being disappointed because they did not have a chance to chat with the regional head.
The interactions that took place were very brief, limited to just handshakes, preventing residents from expressing their concerns.
One resident from Kebayoran, Hendrik (35), said he had been queuing since 12:00 WIB.
However, when meeting Governor Pramono Anung and Deputy Governor Rano Karno, he did not have time to talk or take a photo.
“I actually wanted a photo, but it wasn’t conveyed. Sad, it’s a shame I came here,” Hendrik said.
Similar disappointment was felt by Karin Eka Dewi Salim (42), a resident from Pramuka, East Jakarta.
She came with hopes of conveying a complaint regarding the condition of the Transjakarta bus shelter in the Kayu Putih, Pulomas area, which she considered to be deteriorating and not child-friendly.
However, the density of the crowd inside the room prevented her intention from being realised.
The quick handshake procession made residents feel they had no space to communicate.
“I didn’t have time to talk. Inside, it was rushed, so just a handshake,” Karin said.
The Jakarta Provincial Government emphasised that this Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah moment was focused on strengthening silaturahmi, while administrative matters and residents’ complaints would be handled again on normal working days.
