JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) commemorated its 79th anniversary on Wednesday (9/4/2025) by holding a simple ceremony at the TNI AU Headquarters Field in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.

Based on observations by Kompas.com, the Chief of the Indonesian Air Force, Mohamad Tonny Harjono, acted as the inspecting officer and directly led the proceedings.

The ceremony was attended by various unit elements, ranging from officer companies, Air Force Military Police (Pom AU), to soldiers from the Quick Reaction Force Corps, as well as civil servants (ASN) within the TNI AU environment.

The ranks of troops stood tall and neat, clad in full uniforms that reflected the high military discipline.

Accompaniment from the military corps music added to the official atmosphere throughout the ceremony.

The clear weather enveloping the Cilangkap area also supported the smooth running of the event.

This year’s TNI AU anniversary commemoration was not accompanied by air displays of fighter aircraft.

However, several P6 ATAV tactical vehicles were exhibited at several points around the field, becoming the only element of defence equipment showcased in the celebration.

“We fully understand the global situation, so our Air Force anniversary commemoration ceremony is being carried out in a simple manner,” said the KSAU when met after the ceremony.

The KSAU’s speech from AU Headquarters was also broadcast online and attended by all regional units.

“This is the Air Force’s commitment to following the government’s programme in terms of efficiency and saving, but the essence is that we want to focus more on the boundless service of the Air Force,” said Marshal Tonny.
