SINGAPORE: Nissan Motor, Japan's second-largest carmaker, is setting up regional headquarters in Singapore in a US$10 million- operation starting April 1, news reports said on Monday.
Initially manned by 25 people, Nissan Asia Pacific will oversee core business functions including marketing and production order processing.
The office, according to The Straits Times, will also have a $5 million treasury center to help minimize currency risks.
Nissan, whose largest shareholder is Renault of France, is the second Japanese carmaker to have a regional office in Singapore, following Toyota's similar move in 2001. -- AP
