Nissan to invest £170 million in UK factory for Kicks production
Nissan Motor Co. announced on Wednesday (16/09) that it will invest £170 million (approximately IDR 4.05 trillion) in its Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom to produce the Kicks small sport utility vehicle (SUV) equipped with Nissan’s signature hybrid system.
According to Kyodo, the investment is intended to bolster Nissan’s product range in Europe and is expected to help maintain manufacturing jobs in the sector.
The latest version of the Kicks went on sale in Japan in June. The vehicle features Nissan’s latest generation e-Power hybrid system, which is claimed to improve fuel efficiency.
Vehicles produced in Sunderland will be sold in the UK and exported to other European markets as well as Turkey.
