Japanese automotive manufacturer Nissan is set to launch the newly refreshed Nissan Rogue equipped with its flagship e-Power hybrid system, designed to combine electric vehicle technology with the convenience of petrol-powered models.

CarsCoops reported on Sunday (8 March) local time that the 2027 Rogue Hybrid e-Power marks the initial introduction of this system to the United States market. Previously, the e-Power system had not been offered in America despite already being utilised in over 1.5 million Nissan vehicles globally.

Although Nissan officials have not made an official confirmation, they have indicated that this represents Nissan’s vision for international markets. One example is the Kicks Play e-Power, which was introduced to Mexico in 2022.

The crossover is equipped with a compact 2.1 kWh battery and a 1.2-litre engine functioning as a generator. Both components deliver power to an electric motor producing 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) and torque of 207 lb-ft (280 Nm).

It appears Nissan is developing a third-generation e-Power Kicks system. This system has been engineered with the American market in mind, with the European Qashqai variant providing valuable reference points for the vehicle’s specification.

The vehicle would be equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, a 2.1 kWh battery pack, and an electric motor producing up to 202 hp (151 kW / 205 PS) and torque of 243 lb-ft (330 Nm).

This represents a significant improvement over the 2026 Kicks, which features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 141 hp (105 kW / 143 PS) and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm).

The real benefit, of course, is improved fuel efficiency. Although figures remain speculative, the current Kicks achieves 28 mpg city driving, 35 mpg on the motorway, and 31 mpg combined.
