Nismo dealership to open, offering Skyline GT-R restoration support
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A specialist Nismo dealership is set to open in Australia and will offer restoration support for classic Nissan Skyline GT-Rs. Drive reported on Friday local time that the Victoria-based dealer will become Australia’s first Nismo dealer and the first outside Japan, scheduled to begin operations in Melbourne in 2026. The dealership will provide a range of services for Nissan’s performance models, including access to official parts, technical support, modifications, and restoration programmes. Nissan said the Nismo centre will have a direct link with Omori Factory in Japan, Nismo’s headquarters for performance development and official restoration. “Australia is a natural priority due to its mature performance culture, strong GT-R community, and clear interest in authentic Nismo heritage, performance parts, technical expertise, and motorsport-driven experience,” said Nismo CEO Yutaka Sanada. Nissan also noted that Australia accounts for around 36 percent of the total Skyline GT-R R34 exports and around 20 percent of GT-R R33 exports up to 2026. Meanwhile, Nissan Australia aftersales director Michael Hill said the presence of a Nismo facility in Australia aims to ensure those cars can be maintained, modified, and restored with official support. Although globally Nismo offers five new models across markets, Australian consumers currently have only one Nismo model option, the Nissan Z Nismo, which has enhanced power and upgraded suspension.
