Nirwana among best 10

JAKARTA (JP): Le Meridien Nirwana Golf and Spa Resort in Bali has been named one of the world's 10 best resorts to dream about and head for by United Kingdom's Golf International magazine, the hotel announced on Saturday.

Hotel director of sales and marketing Desmond James said the hotel was picked because "the spectacular views from the ocean facing holes of the resort's Greg Norman's design golf course and the drama of the rice terraces that surrounds the fairways and greens."

The top 10 list was compiled by Special Hotels, a specialist travel guide on top hotels and resorts around the world.

Earlier this year, the resort hotel topped the charts of Asian Resort of the year in the Hertz International Travel Award, James said.

The 278-room hotel is part of the Nirwana Bali Resort, a 100- hectare integrated resort located in Tabanan, adjacent to the sacred Tanah Lot temple.

The resort, officially opened in November 1997, is owned and was developed by PT Bakrie Nirwana Resort, a subsidiary of the widely diversified Bakrie Group. (gis)
