Nipah Mall in Makassar Engulfed in Flames, Police Secure the Scene

A fire broke out at the Nipah Mall in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Sunday evening (9/8/2026). The cause of the fire is not yet known. “It is true that a fire has occurred at the Nipah Mall in the Panakkukang district area,” said Panakkukang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Iptu Uji Mughni. Uji has not yet detailed the current location of the fire. Personnel from the Panakkukang Police are also heading to the Nipah Mall to secure the location. “I am currently on my way there. Members are also heading to the location,” he stated. As of now, the fire is reported to still be burning. Uji also does not yet know which part of the building is on fire. “The information is that it is still burning there,” Uji concluded.
