Nintendo has recorded a sharp increase in annual profits for the fiscal year ending March 2026. The company’s performance was boosted by high sales of the Switch 2 console and new games from its flagship franchises.

The Japanese video game company posted a net profit of 424 billion yen, equivalent to approximately $2.7 billion.

The figure is equivalent to around Rp46.92 trillion, at an exchange rate of Rp17,377 per US dollar.

This represents a 52% increase from the previous year, which reached nearly 279 billion yen.

Nintendo’s annual sales also surged 99% to 2.3 trillion yen, or about $15 billion, equivalent to Rp260.65 trillion.

Demand for the Switch 2 became the main driver of growth, even as sales of the first-generation Switch began to weaken.

The company stated that the decision was taken due to increasingly challenging global business conditions.

The price of the Switch 2 in Japan will rise to 59,980 yen, or about $382, equivalent to Rp6.63 million, starting 25 May 2026.

Previously, the console’s price was at 49,980 yen, or about $318, equivalent to Rp5.52 million.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the Switch 2 price will increase to $499.99, or about Rp8.69 million, starting September 2026.

Previously, the console’s price was $449.99, or about Rp7.82 million.

Nintendo did not provide detailed reasons for the price increase.

However, Japanese exporters have recently faced cost pressures due to trade tariffs from US President Donald Trump and the impact of the Iran war on global supply chains.

The company projects profits for the fiscal year ending March 2027 at 2.1 trillion yen, or about $13 billion, equivalent to Rp225.9 trillion.

This figure is down about 11% from the previous period.

Nintendo stated that the projection already accounts for the console price increase.
