Tangerang, Indonesia – The Tangerang City Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) in Banten Province said that nine sub-districts were affected by floods, with water depths ranging from 40 centimetres to 150 centimetres. ‘Heavy rain that has been falling since yesterday and continuing into Sunday morning caused floods and inundation in several locations,’ said Mahdiar, the Head of BPBD Tangerang City, when contacted in Tangerang on Sunday.

In Periuk sub-district, floods were reported on Jalan Utama Mutiara Pluit, Jalan Utama Danau Situ Bulakan, Jalan Duta Perum Taman Cibodas and the Alamanda Bridge, with the deepest water reaching 1.5 metres.

In Cipondoh sub-district, floods occurred at Kp Candulan at 70 centimetres. In Karang Tengah, floods occurred at Komplek Ciledug Indah 1 Pedurenan with 80 centimetres. In Jatiuwung, floods were reported at Alam Jaya and Perum Magnolia Jatake with 60 centimetres.

In Ciledug, floods occurred at Perum Duren Villa Sudimara Selatan and Perum Griya Kencana Sudimara Barat, with water depths of 50 centimetres. In Cibodas, floods were reported on Jl. Kalingga 1 RW.16, Jl. Darmawangsa Uwung Jaya and RW 5 Taman Cibodas Uwung Jaya with 60 centimetres.

In Pinang, floods occurred at RT.001-RT.002/RW.05 Panunggangan Utara with 40 centimetres, and about 50 families were affected. In Larangan sub-district, floods affected Perum Taman Cipulir Blok A4 No.15 Cipadu Jaya due to a breached dam (tanggul jebol) causing settlements to flood.

In Karawaci, floods were reported at RW 2,4,6 and 9 in Kelurahan Karawaci Baru with 50 centimetres. In Benda, floods occurred at RW 11 and 9 Kelurahan Belendung with water at 60 centimetres.

Some residents have evacuated to posts including RPH and Mushola Petir Cipondoh, Masjid Ma’arif Petir, and GOR Total Persada. ‘We are continuing to evacuate affected residents to evacuation posts for safety. Meanwhile, officers from the Dinas PUPR are continuing to work on handling the situation,’ he said.
