Nine Prosecutors to Oversee Taufik Hidayat Case Through Trial, Prepare Layered Charges

The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) has formed a special team consisting of nine prosecutors to handle the case involving the alleged unlawful detention and assault of a woman, identified by the initials YTR (29), allegedly perpetrated by Taufik Hidayat (30).

The Head of the Legal Information Section of the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, stated in Bandung on Tuesday that the prosecutorial team was formed after the office received the Notice of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP) from the West Java Regional Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate.

“The SPDP is dated 15 June. The High Prosecutor’s Office immediately appointed nine prosecutors,” said Cahya.

He added that the prosecutorial team will oversee the case from the investigation stage until the case file is declared complete (P-21) and transferred to the court.

According to initial investigation results, the suspect allegedly carried out the detention and assault of the victim at four different locations since 2024. As a result of these actions, the victim sustained severe injuries to several parts of her body and is currently undergoing intensive treatment at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.

For prosecution purposes, prosecutors are preparing indictments involving multiple charges, including Article 466 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code regarding severe assault, Article 451 of the Criminal Code regarding hostage-taking with violence, and Article 446 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code regarding the deprivation of liberty resulting in severe injury.

Meanwhile, the West Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, stated that investigators are still looking into allegations of sexual violence involving an obstetrician and gynaecologist. “An examination by an OB-GYN has been conducted. However, from the obstetric and gynaecological perspective, we have not yet received the results,” said Rudi.
