Jakarta — The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has released a guidance message ahead of celebrating Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijrah.

Nine points of guidance were issued by MUI in Decree No. Kep-37/DP-MUI/III/2026 released on Monday, 16 March 2026.

One key point calls upon the government and Indonesia’s National Police (Polri) to guarantee security and comfort for Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr, “both during travel coming and going for the homecoming period, on the night of takbiran, and during the performance of Eid prayers in fields, mosques, prayer rooms or other venues,” according to the message signed by MUI General Chairman Anwar Iskandar.

The third point urges Muslims to use Eid al-Fitr as an opportunity to strengthen piety as taught during Ramadan, namely honesty, patience, social care and discipline that are continuously maintained.

Fourth, MUI conveyed an appeal for family visits, as this forms an important foundation in strengthening community unity.

The sixth point calls for strengthening harmony, reinforcement of bonds of brotherhood and national unity.

Seventh, MUI calls for strengthening social and economic resilience amid global dynamics full of challenges through zakat, voluntary contributions, charity and charitable endowments.

Eighth, MUI requests that Muslims increase their prayers for world peace and the end of various humanitarian conflicts occurring across the globe.

Finally, MUI extends warm greetings of Eid al-Fitr to all Muslims in Indonesia.

“Eid al-Fitr is a spiritually significant moment for Muslims as a day of victory after completing fasting worship, strengthening piety, nurturing social empathy, and reinforcing brotherhood amid community, national and state life,” wrote Anwar Iskandar.
