Nine people swept away, one dead after flash flood in Buleleng, Bali

Eight people were swept away by flash floods that struck Banjar village, Banjar District, in Buleleng Regency, on Friday night. The Bali Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said that of the eight people swept away, four were rescued, three were still unaccounted for, and one person died. ‘Based on information from the Banjar village head at 06:30 WITA, the flash flood occurred at 20:00 WITA with eight people swept away; four were rescued, three are still being searched for, and one person died,’ said I Gede Agung Teja Bhusana. He noted that authorities were heading to the scene to monitor the search for missing victims. The three people still missing are Banjar Ambengan residents; their names have not been released. The deceased was identified as Dewa Ketut Adi Suarjaya (55), a Banjar Santal resident. BPBD Bali also recorded an uptick in disaster events in Buleleng in the last 12 hours, noting 19 disaster incidents from 18:00 to 06:00, mostly floods and flash floods. Several areas were affected. BPBD Bali and a joint team are continuing emergency response efforts and searches for the missing. On Saturday morning, the joint SAR team would resume the search for the three missing. Evacuation was rapid and well-coordinated.
