Civil service schools remain a popular option for high school graduates seeking to continue their education while pursuing a career as a civil servant (ASN). These schools generally offer government-funded education, though not all guarantee automatic CPNS status, as service bonds and graduate placements follow the regulations of each ministry and agency.

The Ministry for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) has announced that the 2026 civil service school intake will offer 4,770 CPNS positions. The announcement of the selection process is planned for August 2026.

Minister Rini Widyantini encouraged young Indonesians aspiring to enter civil service schools to prepare themselves thoroughly. “Civil service school selection is not only about the opportunity to become an ASN, but also about preparing oneself to become a competent, honest and disciplined individual in service to society,” she said in Jakarta.

Registration will be conducted through the State Civil Apparatus Candidate Selection System (SSCASN) portal managed by the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), accessible at sscasn.bkn.go.id.

This year, nine institutions are opening civil service school intakes: the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation (22 schools), the Ministry of Finance, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

The total national intake for civil service schools this year is 4,770 positions, an increase from 3,257 positions in 2025.

Selection will continue to use the Computer Assisted Test (CAT), which Minister Rini said has proven effective in eliminating fraudulent practices such as insider placements and proxy test-takers. She reminded participants to follow the selection process properly, as final results are determined by individual ability.

“Do not easily trust parties who promise guaranteed admission. There is no shortcut to becoming part of a bureaucracy with integrity,” Rini said.

She also urged parents to support their children who wish to enrol in civil service schools, noting that motivation from home helps them compete healthily.

The Basic Competency Selection (SKD) is targeted for September 2026. Like other civil service tests, the SKD for civil service schools consists of three main components: the National Insight Test (TWK), the General Intelligence Test (TIU), and the Personal Characteristics Test (TKP).

After the SKD, applicants will undergo further selection stages, with detailed schedules determined by each civil service school.

The 2026 civil service school intake details are as follows: the Institute of Home Affairs Governance (Ministry of Home Affairs) offers 1,410 positions; 22 schools under the Ministry of Transportation offer 891 positions; the State Finance Polytechnic STAN (Ministry of Finance) offers 1,000 positions; the State Cyber and Crypto Polytechnic (BSSN) offers 50 positions; the Statistics Polytechnic STIS (BPS) offers 564 positions; the Indonesian Correctional Polytechnic (Ministry of Law) offers 250 positions; the Immigration and Corrections Polytechnic (Ministry of Immigration and Corrections) offers 375 positions; the College of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) offers 130 positions; and the State Intelligence College (BIN) offers 100 positions.

The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) has set the schedule for the 2026 civil service school intake. Based on BKN Head Letter Number 5249/B-KS.04.01/SD/K/2026 dated 12 August 2026, the selection process will begin with the selection announcement on 15 August 2026, with registration opening on 18 August 2026.

The announcement period runs from 15 to 24 August 2026. Registration is open from 18 to 30 August 2026, alongside administrative selection from 18 August to 1 September 2026. Administrative selection results will be announced on 2-3 September 2026.

Participants who object to the results may file an appeal on 4-5 September 2026, with responses provided on 4-6 September 2026. Post-appeal results are scheduled for announcement on 7-8 September 2026.

Following the administrative stage, the process continues with billing code issuance and non-tax state revenue (PNBP) payment for the SKD using the BKN CAT system. This takes place in September 2026, before participants sit the SKD CAT BKN scheduled for 22 September to 7 October 2026. Score processing is scheduled for 27 September to 10 October 2026, with SKD results announced in stages from 1 to 13 October 2026.

Participants who pass the SKD will then undergo further non-CAT BKN selection stages from 11 to 28 October 2026.
