Nine Indonesians Join Voyage with Global Sumud Flotilla

Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) has delegated its participation to nine volunteers and journalists to continue the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2026 sailing mission. These nine Indonesians will join around 500 volunteers and humanitarian activists from over 30 countries to proceed with the voyage to breach the Gaza blockade in Palestine. Two Republika journalists, Bambang Noroyono and Thoudy Badai, are participating in this humanitarian mission. The anchors were raised simultaneously this afternoon from the Albatros Dock in the Marmaris Port area, Turkey. There are 54 humanitarian ships that set sail together from the southern Turkish waters. Steering Committee member of the Global Sumud Flotilla, Maimon Herawati, stated that the number of ships will increase to 60. “Insha’Allah, there are still six ships from Freedom Flotilla Coalition friends who will also join in continuing this mission. So around 60 ships will sail to breach the illegal blockade in Gaza,” said Maimon when met by Republika in Marmaris, Turkey, on Thursday (14/5/2026). The two Republika journalists are sailing on the BoraLize and Ozgurluk ships. Meanwhile, the other Indonesian participants are on separate ships carrying humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, Palestine. Besides the two from Republika, the other participants include Herman Budianto Sudarsono, Ronggo Wirasanu, Andi Angga Prasadewa, Aras Asad Muhammad, Hendro Prasetyo, Andre Prasetyo Nugroho, and Rahendro Herubowo. Based on the schedule, the voyage from Marmaris to breach Gaza’s waters is estimated to take about three days at normal low to medium knot speeds. This major Global Sumud Flotilla sea convoy maintains the same mission: delivering humanitarian aid in the form of staple foods, clean water, baby formula, other children’s needs, medicines, and fruits. Of the more than 500 volunteers and activists participating in the voyage, they are dominated by doctors, medical personnel, and health experts, as these are the most needed by Gaza residents at present. So far, the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian voyages have always faced attacks and kidnappings by Zionist Israeli naval forces in international waters.
