Nine Indonesian Nationals Detained by Israeli Military Arrive Home Today
Jakarta — Nine Indonesian nationals (WNI) and activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla who have been released from Israeli detention are scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Sunday, 24 May 2026 in the afternoon.
“The nine WNI will arrive on 24 May at 3:30 PM West Indonesia Time,” said Indonesian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Mulachela to Kompas.com on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
The nine Indonesian nationals consist of journalists and volunteers who were carrying out a humanitarian mission delivering aid to Palestinian Gaza.
All of them will land at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Cengkareng, Tangerang, Banten Province.
“Turkey has provided three aircraft supplied by Turkish Airlines for the safe return of all members of non-governmental organisations from 41 countries that participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla,” stated Turkish Ambassador to Indonesia Talip Kucukcan in a press statement on Friday, 22 May 2026.
The Turkish government stated that the nine Indonesian nationals aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla vessel, who were detained by Israeli security forces, safely arrived in Istanbul on 21 May 2026.
The Turkish government indicated that 422 humanitarian aid volunteers have been safely and swiftly repatriated.
It conveyed that the nine Indonesian nationals who were detained have also safely returned to Turkey and met with officials from the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Istanbul.
