The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Grogol Petamburan District have arrested nine illegal traffic coordinators, known locally as “pak ogah,” in the Latumenten road area of West Jakarta.

Cahya Melansari, head of the Grogol Petamburan District Satpol PP, stated that the enforcement operation was conducted following complaints from residents who were troubled by their activities. “The Grogol Petamburan District Satpol PP carried out enforcement against several ‘pak ogah’ who were causing public disturbance on Latumenten Road,” said Cahya when confirmed by Kompas.com on Friday (27 February 2026).

The illegal coordinators were demanding money and engaging in unauthorised parking arrangements in the Latumenten area, causing traffic congestion. These activities typically occurred on a large scale during peak traffic hours.

The perpetrators deliberately exploited the traffic congestion created by the ongoing construction of the Latumenten elevated road project in the area. “They intentionally took advantage of the congestion, particularly during the flyover project,” explained Cahya.

During the two-day enforcement operation, officers successfully apprehended a total of nine pak ogah at the same location. On 25 February, two individuals were detained; on 26 February, six were arrested during the day and one in the evening, bringing the total to nine.

The detained individuals have been transferred to Kedoya Social Welfare Centre for rehabilitation and guidance. According to regulations, their rehabilitation period lasts 20 days. Officers will continue regular patrols in the area to prevent the return of other illegal traffic coordinators.
