Nine fishermen missing

SERANG, West Java: Rescue workers continued searching Saturday for nine fishermen who went missing when their boat sank last Monday between Oar and Panaitan islands in the Sunda Straits.

Antara quoted head of Labuan port, Akip Mulyana, as saying dozens of residents and the official rescue team worked together for the fourth consecutive day.

The fishing boat Rahayu IV, owned by H. Indin Rosidi, sank with 21 fishermen on board. Twelve of the men survived unhurt.

Mulyana said the rescue team has deployed 10 boats to sweep the waters of Pantai Sumur, Oar and Panaitan islands around Ujung Kulon National Park.

The nine missing fishermen are Syahroni, Tangi, Irsyad, Arya, Sarna, Aan, Taklim, Wasang and Deplek.
