Nine die in two accidents

SALATIGA, Central Java: Nine people have died and dozens of
others injured in two separate road accidents which occurred here
and in Surakarta.

The first accident took place in Tuntang village, Salatiga on
Sunday. Four people died after a speeding PT Coca Cola truck
collided head on with a Mulyo Indah passenger bus traveling in
the opposite direction.

The truck was at the time trying to overtake the vehicle in
front of it.

The second accident occurred early yesterday in Surakarta.
Five people died and 14 others were injured when a bus collided
with a car carrying people to a wedding party. The car was en
route from Surabaya in East Java to Purwokerto.

The injured are being treated at the Moewardi Hospital and Dr.
Oen Hospital in Surakarta. (har/swe)
