Nine Days Before Eid, Train Passenger Volume Reaches 37,858
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta recorded a train passenger volume of 37,858 passengers from the Jakarta Regional Operations area on the ninth day before Eid 1447 H/2026, representing a 27 per cent increase compared to the previous day.
Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that of the total 37,858 passengers departing that day, the majority came from Pasar Senen Station with 16,010 passengers and Gambir Station with 8,667 passengers.
Other stations recorded the following passenger volumes: Bekasi (5,730 passengers), Cikarang (3,470 passengers), Jatinegara (2,010 passengers), Karawang (1,063 passengers), and Cikampek (908 passengers).
Meanwhile, the volume of passengers arriving in the Daop 1 Jakarta area on the same day was recorded at 16,348 people.
“Cumulatively, during the first two days of the Eid transportation period, namely 11–12 March 2026, the number of customers departing from the Daop 1 Jakarta area reached 67,682 people, whilst customers arriving numbered 32,862 people,” said Franoto.
To date, 669,424 tickets have been sold or booked by the public, with provisional occupancy rates around 62 per cent.
According to Franoto, several long-distance trains have become popular with the public during this year’s holiday travel season. From Gambir Station, trains in high demand include the Pandalungan, Argo Semeru, Gunungjati, Cakrabuana, Pangandaran, and Batavia services.
From Pasar Senen Station, trains chosen by the public include the Bengawan, Airlangga, Serayu, Kertajaya, Jayakarta, and Progo services.
To accommodate the high level of public interest, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta operates 68 regular long-distance train journeys daily, plus 19 additional Eid holiday train journeys from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations, as well as 4 free motor train services.
