Nine Civil Servant Teachers in Brebes Named Suspects for Creating Fictitious Attendance App
Nine civil servant teachers have been named suspects in a case involving the use of a fictitious attendance application within the Brebes Regency Government, Central Java. The suspects have been detained at the Brebes Class II-B Detention Centre.
“As a result of examinations and the collection of evidence, officers have successfully secured nine suspects, namely AH (41), DB (38), FFR (40), RTH (39), NK (41), AM (35), SEP (35), SDK (33), and LS (38),” stated Brebes Police Chief AKBP Lilik Ardhiansyah during a press conference following the Bhayangkara Day ceremony at the Brebes Police Headquarters.
According to reports, the application was allegedly used to manipulate attendance records when civil servants were unable to report to the office. Investigations revealed that some civil servants admitted to using the paid application installed on their mobile phones.
One civil servant teacher in Brebes admitted to using the application since 2025, requesting anonymity. “I often leave the office during working hours to attend to business. With this application, I can still maintain a regular attendance record,” the teacher stated at a school in central Brebes.
“Many teachers are already using it. They often have other matters to attend to during working hours, so it is safe if you have it. Attendance remains secure even when away for other purposes,” they added.
Another teacher from a public primary school in the Brebes District also admitted being offered the application by a fellow teacher. “That application has been around since 2025. In fact, I was once offered it,” said the teacher, who requested anonymity.
According to the teacher, civil servants interested in using the application could contact a specific phone number. Users were then directed to transfer IDR 250,000 via bank transfer for a one-year activation fee. Once paid, users were required to submit their NIP (Employee Identification Number), sub-district, and agency details.
“It was offered as a remote fingerprint attendance app for the Brebes Regency Government. For IDR 250,000, you can use it for one year. Once active, civil servants can clock in from anywhere,” the teacher explained.
The teacher added that the application was used to avoid deductions in the Additional Employee Income (TPP) caused by attendance issues. They noted that if a civil servant is late or absent, the BKPSDMD Brebes system automatically deducts TPP.
“For example, in April 2026, I already had a 5.5 percent deduction, or about IDR 100,000. TPP depends on the civil servant’s grade. I once missed work due to illness and was docked 3 percent for each day,” they remarked.
Investigations by the Brebes BKPSDMD team revealed that approximately 3,000 civil servants are users of the illegal attendance application. “Preliminary findings show there are 3,000 users. This includes healthcare workers and several officials. The majority are teachers and healthcare workers,” stated the Regent of Brebes, Paramitha Widya Kusuma, at the Integrated Government Office (KPT) of the Brebes Regency Government.
