Nine Civil Servant Teachers in Brebes Named Suspects for Creating Fictitious Attendance App

Nine civil servant teachers have been named suspects in a case involving the use of a fictitious attendance application within the Brebes Regency Government, Central Java. The suspects have been detained at the Brebes Class II-B Detention Centre. Brebes Police Chief AKBP Lilik Ardhiansyah stated that following investigations and the collection of evidence, officers secured nine suspects, identified by their initials as AH (41), DB (38), FFR (40), RTH (39), NK (41), AM (35), SEP (35), SDK (33), and LS (38). The application reportedly allowed civil servants to manipulate their attendance records when they were unable to be physically present at the office. Investigations revealed that some civil servants admitted to using the paid application installed on their mobile phones. A civil servant teacher in Brebes, who spoke on condition of anonymity, admitted to using the application since 2025 to manage a side business during working hours while maintaining a clean attendance record. The teacher noted that the application was widely used among colleagues to avoid issues with attendance. Another teacher from a state elementary school in Brebes district reported being offered the application by a fellow teacher. Interested civil servants could contact a specific phone number and transfer a fee of Rp 250,000 for a one-year activation, after which they would submit their employee identification number, sub-district, and agency details. The application allowed users to bypass the automatic deductions from their Additional Employee Income (TPP) that would normally be triggered by the system at the Brebes BKPSDMD for lateness or absence. A subsequent investigation by the Brebes BKPSDMD team found that approximately 3,000 civil servants, mostly teachers and healthcare workers, were using the illegal application.
