Nine babies win prizes
BOGOR (JP): The Bogor mayoralty gave nine babies born in Bogor on Feb. 4, Rp 500,000 each for being Indonesia's 200 millionth citizens.
Eddy Gunardi handed over the savings as part of village resilience board month here yesterday.
One of the babies is Vinni Saskia Ramdiyanti, daughter of Lili Kurniadi and Herni Septianingsih.
Vinni got another Rp 500,000 from Governor R. Nuriana for being runner up in the recent West Java baby contest.
Herni, Vinni's mother, said she was very happy with the money. "I will save it for Vinni's education," she said.
Vinni is one of the 8,778 babies that became Indonesia's 200 millionth citizens on Feb. 4.
But the government selected only one of the babies as the official 200 millionth citizen. He was named Wahyu Nusantaraaji by President Soeharto.
Wahyu was born in Lombok regency, West Nusa Tenggara province and will have his education sponsored by PT Pos Indonesia. (sur)
