Nindya Karya strengthens national fisheries infrastructure through Bali PPN
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Nindability Karya (Persero) is strengthening national fisheries infrastructure through the construction of the development of the Pengambengan Nusantara Fishing Port (PPN) in Jembrana Regency, Bali, with the groundbreaking ceremony held this Tuesday.
“This strategic project is part of the Integrated Fishing Ports and International Fish Markets (IFP-IFM) Phase-I (IDN-1055) programme, which aims to strengthen national fisheries infrastructure while simultaneously driving maritime economic growth in Bali and the surrounding regions,” said the President Director of Nindya Karya, Firmansyah, in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to him, as the executing contractor, Nindya Karya reaffirms its commitment to completing the construction by prioritising quality, occupational safety, punctuality, and the application of modern construction technology.
Firmansyah stated that the company is ready to support the development of an integrated modern fisheries area through the construction of high-quality infrastructure.
“Nindya Karya is committed to executing the work by prioritising quality, safety, timeliness, and the application of construction technology. Nindya Karya’s involvement in the development of PPN Pengambengan is part of the company’s contribution to supporting the strengthening of fisheries infrastructure and national maritime economic growth,” said Firmansyah.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, explained that Pengambengan was selected as a fisheries development centre because Benoa Port is no longer considered ideal for large-scale fisheries port development.
“We chose Pengambengan to be developed as a fisheries centre because Benoa Port is no longer ideal for the development of a fisheries port. We want to build Pengambengan into a modern, well-organised, and integrated port,” he said.
He added that the government has allocated an investment of at least Rp1.2 trillion for the development of the Pengambengan Nusantara Fishing Port (PPN) in Jembrana, Bali.
Trenggono stated that the port’s construction is designed to be integrated so that it serves not only as a centre for fishing activities but also supports the development of industry and tourism in Bali.
“The figure we have allocated here is no less than Rp1.2 trillion. It will become a very modern and well-organised port,” said Trenggono during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Pengambengan PPN development through the Integrated Fishing Port and International Fish Market Phase 1 project in Jembrana, Bali, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, assessed that this project will provide a significant economic impact for the people of Bali.
“On behalf of the people of Bali, I express my gratitude for the realisation of this programme; this is the first and largest of its kind in Indonesia. This programme will enhance the economy and fisheries in Bali,” said Koster.
The development of PPN Pengambengan includes the construction of various integrated facilities, ranging from port infrastructure such as piers, wharves, jetties, slipways, breakwaters, and revetments. Additionally, the area will be equipped with fisheries facilities including fish handling areas, cold storage, factories, ice warehouses, and modern fish markets.
Other supporting facilities include workshops, ship docking warehouses, net repair workshops, fuel stations for fishing boats (SPBN), and various services to support port operations.
Through this development, PPN Pengambengan is expected to become an integrated fisheries ecosystem connecting fish landing activities, catch processing, marketing, and industrial activities.
“The presence of these facilities is also expected to be able to increase the competitiveness of the national fisheries sector and provide direct benefits to fishermen and the surrounding community,” he said.
