Nightspots to remain open in Palu
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Unlike some other administrations, the
city authorities announced on Saturday that it would not close
nightspots and entertainment centers during the coming Ramadhan
fasting month.
"The city administration will not instruct nightspots and
entertainment centers to cease operations during Ramadhan but
will limit their opening to only two and a half hours per day.
They will open at 8:30 p.m. local time," said Kasman Lassa,
spokesman for the city administration.
Lassa said the decision was made after considering opinions
from numerous sides, including local religious organizations.
He also said local authorities would supervise all nightspots,
karaoke and billiard centers to make sure the ruling was complied
with.
"Authorities will take tight measures against any violation to
the ruling," he said. --Antara
