Nightspots disobey authority's order

TANGERANG, West Java (JP): Three nightspots, FM3 Transit Hotel, Model discotheque, and Singapore Karaoke have again violated the allowed operational hours.

The nightspot owners were reprimanded by the local authority and warned to comply with the allowed operational hours of 9 p.m to 2 a.m. on regular days and from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Sunday, following the protest by over 1,000 Moslems two weeks ago.

However, the establishments only temporarily obeyed the order and have once again opened from 6 pm to 6 am.

According to the Moslem protesters two weeks ago, the three night establishments were being used as a brothel, a place for drug trafficking, and a place for featuring impolite singers respectively.

Gendon Suryojoyo, the FM3 hotel manager, refused to comment when asked by The Jakarta Post on why the hotel once again breached the regulation.

The Post also found on Friday night that many prostitutes were still seen offering their services at Singapore Karaoke. The owner, known as Lie, was not available for comment. (18/26)
