A number of patrons at nightlife venues in Bandung, West Java, were found to have consumed illegal prescription drugs such as tramadol and alprazolam during a raid by the West Java Regional Police on Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday. The results of their urine tests are still being processed.

Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the West Java Police Narcotics Directorate, AKBP Ismawansa, stated that officers conducted another round of narcotics and prescription drug raids at several nightlife venues. The raids were carried out to eradicate the circulation of narcotics and illegal drugs.

He said the nightlife venues visited included Voice Karaoke and Masterpiece Legend Style on Jalan Buahbatu. Officers entered the venues and checked every patron and employee to ascertain whether they were carrying drugs.

“This raid is intended to suppress and eradicate the circulation of drugs in nightlife venues,” he said on Sunday.

He added that a joint task force visited 15 locations. Meanwhile, he, who was accompanying the Director of the West Java Police Narcotics Directorate, Senior Commissioner Arly Jembar Jumhana, visited four locations.

“Tonight we have four locations; coincidentally, our colleagues from the Bandung City Police are also conducting operations at 15 locations. So we are dividing the locations,” he said.

From the raid results, the authorities found three individuals who tested positive for consuming certain prescription drugs such as alprazolam and tramadol. The urine test results could not yet be disclosed as they still require time.

“There were several people who were positive for certain prescription drugs; we conducted urine tests,” he said.
