Nightclub hostess strangled to death

JAKARTA (JP): A nightclub hostess was found dead with bruises
on her face and neck at a male friend's boarding house in Central
Jakarta yesterday morning.

The post-mortem examination showed that Nia, who was also
known as Tri, had been strangled, a police officer said.

The officer said the victim, who worked at JJ Nightclub in
West Jakarta, was believed to have been killed about 4:30 in the
morning.

Nia's husband, Rozali, said he had no idea why his wife went
to Sugeng's boarding house on Jl. H. Agus Salim, Central Jakarta.

Other tenants of the boarding house, who found Nia's body,
said that Sugeng was out of town when Nia came. They said they
could not understand how Nia got into Sugeng's room which was
locked.

Police said that a friend of Sugeng, whom they identified only
as "J", was known to have had the key, but no one knew if Nia got
the key from "J".

Witnesses said that "J" had been in Sugeng's room the evening
before Nia was found dead. (05)
