The night of Lailatul Qadar was welcomed with the traditional Kabasarang Uci ceremony in Ternate on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Sultan Ternate Hidayat Mudaffar Sjah, escorted by the ceremonial attendants of the Ternate Sultanate, descended from the palace in a ritual procession of Kabasarang Uci to commemorate the Night of Lailatul Qadar in Ternate, North Maluku. The procession was conducted to accompany the Sultan of Ternate from the palace (kedaton) to the Sigi Lamo Mosque to perform evening prayers (tarawih) on the 27th night of Ramadhan, whilst also demonstrating the commitment to preserve local wisdom inherited from their ancestors.
The ceremonial attendants of the Ternate Sultanate performed traditional music using the gendang (Cikamomo) drum during the Kabasarang Uci ritual procession to welcome the Night of Lailatul Qadar in Ternate, North Maluku. The procession was conducted to accompany the Sultan of Ternate from the palace to the Sigi Lamo Mosque to perform evening prayers on the 27th night of Ramadhan, serving as a demonstration of commitment to preserving the local wisdom inherited from their ancestors.
A group of ceremonial guards (doi-doi) from the Ternate Sultanate carried a ceremonial litter bearing Sultan Ternate Hidayat Mudaffar Sjah during the Kabasarang Uci ritual procession to welcome the Night of Lailatul Qadar in Ternate, North Maluku. The procession accompanied the Sultan from the palace to the Sigi Lamo Mosque for evening prayers on the 27th night of Ramadhan, representing a demonstration of the sultanate’s commitment to preserving ancestral cultural traditions.
