Nick Reiner Requests Trust Fund Access to Hire Lawyer

The son of filmmaker Rob Reiner, Nick Reiner, is seeking access to a trust fund established by his late parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. According to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday local time, Nick filed the request to rehire a lawyer to defend him in an upcoming criminal trial. The 32-year-old filed a probate petition in Los Angeles to access $1.5 million placed in a trust intended for distribution on his 30th birthday. The trust’s rules contain clear mandatory distribution provisions, namely that half of the value is given to the beneficiary at age 30 and the remainder at age 35. Nick claims he did not receive any distribution in 2023 when he turned 30. Nick, the Reiners’ middle child, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances for multiple killings and the use of a deadly weapon. Nick maintains his innocence and remains in custody in Los Angeles, United States. In January, prominent Los Angeles attorney Alan Jackson withdrew from Nick Reiner’s legal defence after accepting him as a client shortly after the arrest. His siblings, Jake and Romy Reiner, initially helped fund their brother’s defence but are no longer involved, leaving Reiner with a public defender.
