The exhibition and convention industry in Southeast Asia is becoming increasingly dynamic and continues to grow.

This is being leveraged by Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE), based in PIK2, Jakarta, through a strategic partnership with the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

The formalisation of this cooperation took place on the sidelines of the Thailand MICE Exchange (TMX). This step is projected to act as a catalyst for strengthening the trade and business events ecosystem in the ASEAN region, while positioning it as a more competitive MICE destination on a global scale.

Both entities will focus on exchanging business opportunities, sharing market insights, and developing joint industry platforms.

The non-exclusive nature of the agreement provides flexibility for both parties to continue developing independently, while maturing substantive long-term collaboration.

NICE Managing Director Ryan Adrian emphasised that this synergy is part of a broader vision to enhance regional connectivity.

“This partnership affirms NICE’s role as a driver for Indonesia in strengthening competitiveness and integration of the ASEAN MICE ecosystem at the global level,” said Ryan, quoted by Kompas.com on Saturday (1/5/2026).

The MICE industry requires high service standards and extensive networks to attract international event organisers.

Through cross-border collaboration, NICE is targeting three main objectives: expanding inter-regional exhibition opportunities, exchanging technical industry knowledge, and solidifying ASEAN’s position as a hub for global business activities.

This strategy aligns with NICE’s profile as a leading convention centre with a total event space capacity of 130,000 square metres.

Integration with MITEC, Malaysia’s largest exhibition centre, is expected to create a new economic corridor through the organisation of large-scale conventions.

This partnership represents market confidence that the future of the MICE industry lies in the strength of networks and collective collaboration among neighbouring countries.
